ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT
There's nothing worse than being worried about whether or not your water is safe to drink.  As Canadians we have the luxury of enjoying safe bacteria free water from our municipalities.  However, for those supplied by their own private well, water safety may be of some concern.

There are many different ways to treat water for bacteria.  The most common are chlorination and ultraviolet light
disinfection.  Chlorination involves adding chlorine to the water and allowing enough contact time with the water to adequately disinfect the water.  Ultraviolet is a physical disinfection process and no chemicals are required.

How it Works

Ultraviolet lights operate in a straightforward manner.  As water passes through the ultraviolet system, ultraviolet light attacks the harmful organism and alters its DNA.  Thus the organism is unable to reproduce.  If the bacteria cannot reproduce it cannot make you sick.  Ultraviolet lights require annual bulb changes and cleaning of the quartz sleeve.  Water must be less than 7gpg hard, iron less than 0.3ppm, hydrogen sulfide less than 10ppm and water must be clear.  If these parameters are not met, then additional treatment before the ultraviolet light may be required.  If you are unsure about your water quality please contact us.
Benefits of Ultraviolet Lights
· Low operation costs.  Most systems use the same amount of power as a 40 watt light bulb.  The only maintenance is an annual bulb replacement and cleaning.
· Does not change the taste or odor of your water.  Because ultraviolet disinfection is a physical process, no chemicals are used so it will not effect the taste or odor of your water.
· Level of disinfection.  Ultraviolet protects your water against E.coli, Cryptosporidium Parvum, Giardia Lamblia and more!
